Cross River Falls

Cross River Falls Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Getting to this waterfall is simply a matter of standing on the Highway 61 bridge in Schroeder. From the bridge-top vantage point, the river meets a gigantic boulder slicing the river in two, then reconnects on the downstream side blazing like an arrow under the bridge. The best view is at the base of the falls, where the river falls into a deep gorge adorned with towering cedar trees.

The waterfall cascades at the top into a narrow crevice and then blasts out the downstream side, hastily making its way over a second tier of rock to a deep pool. Two enormous cedars stand as gatekeepers on both sides of the waterfall. The pool flows over a secondary falls, where the river then continues through the scenic gorge to Lake Superior."
