Maka- Oicu County Park Professional Review and Guide
"Pronounced “Mahkah- weechoo,” this small campground is near West Graham Lake, a good source of crappie and walleye. There’s a nice swimming beach, and the campground’s proximity to two local wildlife reserves means that wildlife viewing and bird watching are popular pastimes. The campsites offer reasonable privacy. Pets are allowed.
If the northern part of the state is about forests and dramatic glacial terrain, the southern part of the state has an entirely different feel. Here you will find historic old river towns, remnants of the tragic US- Dakota War of 1862, evidence of pioneer life (especially that of Laura Ingalls Wilder), reminders of Jesse James, ancient petroglyphs, country lanes, and, to the west, prairie land that stretches for miles."
