Touring Tettegouche Country Professional Review and Guide
"The forest in this area has some unique aspects. Much of forest along this ride consists of a boreal, or northern, forest. Since the thin rocky soils, long cold winters, and short warm summers exclude many varieties of plants, only species that tolerate such conditions survive.
Although beautiful during the summer, the maples show off their best in the fall, when they turn a brilliant red. If you don't like to climb, you may want to skip this ride, or perhaps drive it to take in the exceptional scenery."
