George H. Crosby Manitou State Park Professional Review and Guide
"The secluded campsites must all be accessed by foot, some as close to the entrance as 0.5 mile, others nearly 5 miles out. Privacy is key here—the sites are completely separated and scattered along the Manitou River and Benson Lake. There are 24 miles of hiking trails, and part of the Superior Hiking Trail runs through the park as well.
Swimming and boating are available, as well as fishing for trout. Keep an eye out for bears and wolves. (Note: This is one of the state parks that allow deer hunting during hunting season, so take precautions if camping then.) There are sources of water available near the campsites, but it needs to be purified. Pets are allowed."
