South Kawishiwi River Campground

South Kawishiwi River Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This campground is on the South Kawishiwi River, great both for fishing for walleye, perch, and northern pike and for canoeing and kayaking. Paddlers can use the Kawishiwi to reach Birch Lake or to enter the Boundary Waters (permit required).

There’s a small but nice grassy beach and a 1-mile hiking trail into the Kawishiwi River Forest, a thick forest of both pine and leafy trees. A log cabin/pavilion that was built by the CCC is on-site and can be toured with advance notice. Campsites are reasonably well spaced and wooded for privacy. Pets are allowed."
