North Kawishiwi River Loop Professional Review and Guide
"Paddle across Ojibway Lake to find a unique eighteenth-century device that will allow the canoe to be rolled to Triangle Lake. The next portage will access the Kawishiwi River flowage. The rivers, and almost every mentioned lake, will offer good northern pike and walleye fishing. Scenic rapids and waterfalls abound. This route is usually not crowded.
If time permits, at the start or end of the trip, lake trout and smallmouth bass fishing can be quite good in Ojibway Lake. The portage into the entry point on the Kawishiwi River is 190 rods, one of the most lengthy portages on the trip. The Kawishiwi rivers have been called “flowages” and compared to long, narrow lakes, since they are mostly calm, extended pools, except where waterfalls and rapids signify a quick drop in elevation."
