Falls of Lester River—Lester Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Your exploration of the Lester River starts close to Lake Superior and heads upstream to more remote settings. The first waterfall on the list is Japp Hole, right under the Superior Street bridge. Dirt paths lead through a copse of woods to a couple of different views of this urban waterfall, adjacent to a railroad bridge frequented by sightseeing train tours.
Japp Hole is a deceptively attractive falls, tumbling over seven different drops to a larger, 20-foot free fall to the base of the cliff. The steep-walled gorge is narrow at the falls and morphs into a nice wooded canyon, colored pine green, as the smooth waters drift into the lake."
