Falls of Chester Creek

Falls of Chester Creek Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Another of Duluth’s in-town hideaways is Chester Park. An author favorite from top to bottom, Chester is an enchanting place, revealing new secrets with each visit. Come along and let’s explore. The park proper is set high above town along the curvy scenery of Skyline Parkway. Picnic areas and a large playground for the youngsters are available here.

Chester Creek parallels the park for a short distance before passing beneath Skyline Drive to a rugged ravine. Aged stone steps from Skyline descend to this heavily wooded gorge, where tall white pine, bulbous cedar, aspen, fir, birch, and other hardwoods team up with shorter shrubbery to wash the deep rock furrow in soft shades of green. The trail begins as a large platform of rock, smoothed by northern Minnesota’s punishing weather and generations of visitors’ footsteps."
