That is one of the best rides in the forest. A layer of needles from the huge red and white pines makes for a soft and silent ride at the start. Farther into the forest, the trail turns first to choice dirt singletrack and then to a mix with grass. I had to keep stopping to listen to the pines whisper their tales. There are many different loops that wind all over, dipping down past an eerie cedar swamp to the picturesque Cut Foot Sioux Lake and providing access to several nice campgrounds. You could spend most of a day playing out here, and the camping areas are beautiful places to round off a great day of riding. For some bonus riding, the Cut Foot Sioux Trail can also be accessed from this same trailhead. Tread: Glorious hard-packed dirt and grass singletrack.
