Mississippi River-Lake Winnibigoshish Dam to Pokegama Dam

Mississippi River-Lake Winnibigoshish Dam to Pokegama Dam Professional Review and Guide

"The Mississippi, still a small river, follows an extremely tortuous path over flat woodlands. Start your trip below the dam at the US Army Corps of Engineers Winnie Dam Recreation Area at the east end of Lake Winnibigoshish.

Downstream from the dam, the Mississippi flows through wild woodlands. After several miles the river flows over white sand, a remnant of sand dunes that formed on Lake Winnie’s southeast shore 6,000 years ago, when the land was hotter and drier."
