Wakemup Bay Campground

Wakemup Bay Campground Professional Review and Guide

"Located within Kabetogama State Forest, this campground is on the shores of Lake Vermilion. The enormous lake is a great fishing spot, especially for walleye, muskie, smallmouth bass, and northern pike. It’s also popular with canoers and kayakers who are capable of taking on rougher waters (it’s a good idea to bring camping basics with you on an extended paddle, in case you run into rougher-than-expected waters).

There’s a good swimming beach too. Not far from the campground is a trailhead to the Arrowhead State Trail, 135 miles of multiuse trail that is primarily for snowmobiles in the winter but, depending on rainfall, can also be used for horseback riding and biking in the summer. Pets are allowed."
