Vermilion River-Vermilion Dam to Twomile Creek

Vermilion River-Vermilion Dam to Twomile Creek Professional Review and Guide

"The Vermilion starts out with a bang, running through several difficult rapids and short pools. Note that the take-out requires a 1.5-mile paddle up Two-mile Creek, a marshy tributary.

The Vermilion slides over the dam at the outlet of Lake Vermilion and roars over a steep pile of boulders, forming a difficult pitch of whitewater about 200 yards long. In low water you’ll have to pick your way down a complicated route between and over large boulders (Class III). In high water, waves kick up, holes form, and your job becomes all the tougher (Class IV). Portage either side, about 275 yards."
