Oldenburg Cascades— Jay Cooke State Park

Oldenburg Cascades— Jay Cooke State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Oldenburg Cascades are an all-time author favorite for feeling like a great explorer out on the wild river, jumping from rock ledge to boulder pile to islands of trees. Getting here requires passing the overlook way up on the ridge, and this is an industrial-size distraction from the river.

Take a gander at the stunning views to the park’s southern woods and a wide curve in the river just a short way downstream, flowing eastward to Lake Superior. Notice how the rock formations so common in other areas of the park abruptly end, leaving the river to coast along with nary a roadblock in sight."
