Astrid Lake Trail

Astrid Lake Trail Professional Review and Guide

"A vigorous looping trail that goes through a spruce bog (you won't get you feet wet), and then alongside three scenic lakes. Astrid Lake Trail is located outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, so no special permits are needed for hiking or camping at backcountry sites. This pleasant little hike is ideal for anyone staying at the nearby Lake Jeanette campground.

Though it doesn’t have tall peaks or the most scenic of overlooks, it does offer enough, in a humble way, to make an enjoyable hike. The trail goes from a black spruce bog to quiet lakes, big trees, and big boulders. Special attractions: Bog, some of biggest erratics in the area, and overlooks."
