This well-named park earns its name from its vast stands of virgin pine and the undeveloped Coon and Sandwick Lakes, not to mention the wildlife viewing and bird watching. Here are 14 miles of hiking trails, with some including interpretive signage. Winter recreation includes access to 6 miles of cross- country ski trails (3 miles groomed), 10 miles of snowmobile trails, and snowshoeing throughout the park. There are also historic CCC buildings within the park that can be visited, including an old lodge. There are two primary RV campsites, one near the historic lodge on the northwest shores of Coon Lake, and the other south at Chase Point, also on Coon Lake, with swimming access at the lodge site. Pets are allowed.
