Zippel Bay State Park

Zippel Bay State Park Professional Review and Guide

"Lake of the Woods and Rainy River are great fishing grounds if you like walleye. Fishing, swimming, and hiking are only a few recreation opportunities at Zippel Bay State Park, where wildlife is prolific and bird watching is a popular activity. Numerous flowers including four species of lady’s slippers, a variety of edible berries including cranberries and Juneberries, and edible mushrooms grow along the hiking trail and in the woods.

This is a place where you are likely to see sandhill cranes, white pelicans, and double-crested cormorants, along with several species of shore birds. It’s also home to the endangered piping plover."
