Wildflower Challenge Ride Professional Review and Guide
"The hometown of Pulitzer Prize–winning poet Richard Eberhart, Austin spawned the Weyerhaeuser Company and the Austin Plow and Harrow Company. But the multinational Geo. A. Hormel Company, founded in 1891, made this town famous with its products. Today known worldwide as Spam Town USA, this agricultural trading center is an excellent place to explore by bike. The challenge starts near the Spam Museum, just off the Cedar River, which it follows until turning to the east through the croplands that support Hormel foods’ products. Upon reaching the town of Le Roy, the ride makes a loop to the northwest and returns on the Shooting Star Wildflower Scenic Byway back to Austin."
