Lake Carlos State Park

Lake Carlos State Park Professional Review and Guide

"Lake Carlos State Park was sculpted by glaciers during its history, and the rolling terrain makes it both visually beautiful and a great choice for active pursuits. There are 14 miles of hiking trails that wind through the park and are especially beautiful in the fall, as there are stands of deciduous trees. Nine miles of horse trails are available as well, although the park requests that visitors call before bringing horses in, as periodically the trails are too wet.

Groomed cross-country ski and snowmobile trails are open in the winter. The majority of campsites are in two areas. One is on the north shore of Lake Carlos, where sites are packed fairly tightly and offer little privacy. If staying on the lake isn’t the top priority, the second campground, north of the lake on a wooded hill, offers more privacy. Pets are allowed."
