Big M Loop

Big M Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This old downhill skiing area is a challenging cross-country skiing area in the winter and an equally invigorating mountain biking route in the summer. Cyclists should be prepared for many aerobic climbs, particularly to the top of Capper’s Peak, with its 360-degree views of the Manistee Forest.

The route is fairly well marked with maps at most of the intersections and clear diamond markers with colored dots. With more singletrack in development, the area is open to mountain bikes from April 15 through September 30. Bikers should show caution on the long, steep descents, which often cross rutted doubletracks and are sometimes covered in leaves by late September. Tread: 11.75 miles of narrow and wide singletrack."
