O-Kun-de-Kun Falls Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"O-Kun-de-Kun Falls is a fairly overlooked spot in an area with many waterfalls to choose from. Because of this, you’re likely to have the trail to yourself. It drops 25 feet over the edge of undercut sandstone slabs, framed above by tall pine and below by the earthy browns of sandstone. It is also one of the few falls that is just as worthwhile to view during low-water episodes, as this allows walking on the smooth sandstone for closer views of the impressive drop.
Begin your hike at the North Country Trail parking area off of US 45. Follow the gravel path northeast to its junction with the North Country Trail and a signboard for O-Kun-de-Kun Falls. Turn right on this trail and continue heading northeast. The trail here is narrow and muddy, but some boardwalks ease the way over the roughest areas. At about Mile 0.4, cross an ATV trail and continue heading northeast on the NCT. If you don’t let the boggy trail bother you, this is a pleasant woodsy walk."
