Scheck’s Place State Forest Campground Professional Review and Guide
"The Boardman River originates in a swamp northeast of here but then flows north again out into Grand Traverse Bay. Anglers come to try to nab brown trout, and pad- dlers enjoy the easy river access. Hikers will delight that the venerable North Country National Sce- nic Trail actually passes through the site, and other trails are not far off. Sites are mostly shaded, with a few that get exposure at midday. Also nearby is the equestrian trail camp, which does allow all campers. A spur trail connects users to the 355-mile Shore-to-Shore Riding/Hiking Trail."
