Keith J. Charters Traverse City State Park Professional Review and Guide
"This popular urban park brings camping to town and offers a quarter- mile beach on Grand Traverse Bay as well. A pedestrian walkway allows campers to cross the busy highway to get to the beach area easily and safely. The park has plenty of tree cover, but when full the place can feel rather crowded. The 22-mile, multiuse paved TART Trail goes right through the park, allowing campers to explore the area by bike. The location is ideal for taking advantage of the stores, restaurants, and bars of Traverse City and the wineries of Old Mission Peninsula. Sleep- ing Bear Dunes are just about 30 miles from here."
