Ionia State Recreation Area Professional Review and Guide
"The centerpiece of the park is Sessions Lake, created by damming a river. But the surrounding hills of woods and meadows offer a fine network of trails. The camp- sites, on the east side of the lake, are staggered a bit for some amount of privacy, and some shade is also provided. It’s a park good for active folks. Birders have nearly 200 species to look for here. The lake is popular with Canada geese, which can have a serious impact on how attractive the water is for swimming. Metal detecting, paddling, cross-country skiing, and snow- mobiling are popular pastimes here. Hunting is permitted in season."
