Bill Wagner Peaine Township Campground Professional Review and Guide
"Beaver Island is known as America’s Emerald Isle, partly because so many Irish settled here—from Donegal, thus the name Donegal Bay—but also because of its abun- dant greenery. In 1850 it was ruled by a monarch, James Jesse Strang, a Mormon leader who declared himself king of his followers, who had settled there in 1848 after the death of Joseph Smith. This campground is rustic and set along the beach facing the mainland. Contact the Beaver Island Boat Company at (888) 446-4095 or bibco.com."
