Escarpment Trail Professional Reviews and Guides
"This point-to-point trail offers a unique view of the most scenic point in the park, Lake of the Clouds. A spur trail about midway between Cloud Peak and Cuyahoga Peak divides the trail in half. Special attractions: Lake of the Clouds views; Carp Lake Mine; Cuyahoga Mine."
--Mike Modrzynski, Hiking Michigan (Falcon Guides).
"For many Porkies’ veterans, the Escarpment is at the top of any “don’t miss” list of outings in the park. Open meadows on this ridgetop offer long sight lines and memorable views of the area’s landmarks. Far to the west, past Lafayette Peak’s craggy south face, Lake Superior sparkles in the distance. Off to the southeast the Trap Hills dimple the horizon. Hundreds of feet below the Escarpment’s craggy heights, Lake of the Clouds feeds the headwaters of the Big Carp River."
