Pinckney State Recreation Area

Pinckney State Recreation Area Professional Review and Guide

"Glaciers turned what’s now Pinckney State Recreation Area into one of the most rugged places you will find in Michigan. By combining two loops, you can hike 5.3 miles of the park’s moraine-strewn mixed hardwood forest. Along the way the trail touches on three named lakes—Silver, Crooked, and Pickerel—as well as a number of unnamed lakes and kettle ponds.

The park features rolling hills, mature forests, wetlands, and
Pone of the most extensive networks of trails in the state. Two trails here—the Crooked Lake and Silver Lake Trails—can be combined for a decent 5.3-mile loop. Other options include the 17.5-mile Potawatomi Trail and the multiday backpacking route known as the Waterloo–Pinckney Trail."
