Giant Pines Loop

Giant Pines Loop Professional Review and Guide

"Tahquamenon is one of the most storied locations in all the state. The setting for Longfellow’s epic Hiawatha, the river holds a special place in the hearts of those who visit it because it’s so beautiful, especially in winter when visitors are fewest.

You’ll be skiing through one of the state’s premier old-growth northern hardwood forests, with lots of beech, maple, yellow birch, and eastern hemlock, along with a few great old white pines I’ll talk about later. Surface quality: Groomed and double track set weekly on Giant Pines Loop. Wilderness Loop is ungroomed, but generally has a skier-set track."
