Negwegon State Park

Negwegon State Park Professional Review and Guide

"Remote and largely undeveloped, this park of sandy beaches and low-lying woodlands of pine and cedar is an outstanding day-trip option for Lake Huron paddlers. Negwegon State Park stands as one of the last unspoiled stretches of Lake Huron shoreline in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula.

Named after a former Chippewa Indian chieftain, the park remains a quiet haven of woodland trails, sandy beaches, and shallow coves. This is due in large part to the state’s laudable decision to go easy on amenities. Camping is prohibited in the park, and facilities amount to little more than vault toilets, a water spigot, trail signs, and a big gravel parking lot that remains half-empty on the park’s busiest days."
