Pinkerton Creek Trail

Pinkerton Creek Trail Professional Review and Guide

"A brief and pleasant connector trail to or from the Little Carp River. From the southern trailhead, the first mile of trail leads through mature hardwood stands before it reaches its namesake, Pinkerton Creek. A wooden bridge allows for a dry-foot crossing; within a few yards, a second, smaller creek and another handy bridge have to be crossed as you hike through stands of ancient hardwoods and conifers.

Special attractions: any hikers use this trail to bypass the rugged end of the west-to-east Lake Superior Trail, which goes from the Presque Isle River to the Little Carp River."

After hiking a few of the more challenging trails in the porkies this one was a nice break. The trail is quite well maintained with planks over some of the more muddy sections. At about mile 2 you come to a large ravine overlooking some small falls/rapids, and a bench to perfect for a break. The trail connects to the Lake superior trail which makes it a possible starting point to some backpackers. The trail is steep at times but not to strenuous. A nice little hike through the Forest.
