Two Hearted River

Two Hearted River Professional Review and Guide

"Forever linked to favorite son Ernest Hemingway, this scenic river provides some of the best paddling in the eastern Upper Peninsula. The Two Hearted River is one of Michigan’s legendary streams. Its stature is due in no small measure to Ernest Hemingway, who immortalized the river when he appropriated its evocative name for a short story (“The Big Two Hearted River”) based on his fishing experiences on the nearby Fox River.

But the Two Hearted River’s continued popularity as a destination for anglers and paddlers alike is due more to its wild and remote surroundings and trout-filled waters than to any story. With this stream, reality matches the northwoods imagery conjured up by its name."
