Metamora-Hadley State Recreation Area Professional Review and Guide
"The Metamora-Hadley State Recreation Area in south Lapeer County offers that feeling of heading “up north” without having to fight the I-75 up-north traffic. Centered on an attractive 80-acre lake, the park has 5 miles of trails that wind through open meadow, hardwood forest, and assorted wetlands. You might want to bring a tent, swimming suit, or fishing pole to take full advantage of the place.
Hadley State Recreation Area. A tributary of the Middle South Branch of the Flint River, the creek continues north and then west through Flint and then heads north again, eventually emptying into Lake Huron by way of the Saginaw River. There’s not much to the creek here in Metamora, but damming the flow has created 80-acre Lake Minnewanna. The recreation area comprises 723 acres of woods, meadows, and wetlands surrounding this man-made lake. The north shore of the lake has been cleared for a beach and picnic grounds—complete with restrooms and concessions."
