North Country Trail Marilla Trailhead to Dilling Road

North Country Trail: Marilla Trailhead to Dilling Road Professional Review and Guide

"Who says there aren’t any mountains in Michigan? This ride has enough sustained climbs along a smooth, hill-hugging 15-mile singletrack trail to make riders forget that they are in a state with a high point of less than 2,000 feet. Cyclists are rewarded with views of the Manistee River, Hodenypyl Dam, and Udell Hills.

The last half of the ride is on paved and dirt roads; but it can just as easily be an out-and-back ride, or you can leave a car at the Dilling Road Trailhead for a car shuttle. Tread: 15.4 miles of singletrack, 11.9 miles of dirt road, 1.8 miles of paved road."

We had to park on Pole Road as the trailhead is not maintained during the winter - but hiked in pulling sleds with our gear and camped on the ridge - probably 3 to 4 feet of snow pack, it was a great trip and the little ledge of a trail is also treachurous for hikers with sleds. Absolutely beautiful views - this trail is not just for bikers!
