Van Riper State Park Professional Review and Guide
"The park system designates this park as a Watchable Wildlife site, which is not surprising, as this is where moose were introduced into the wild in the Upper Peninsula. While you are not guaranteed to see one by any means, other mammals and birds are abundant. The campground is modern and even offers Wi-Fi throughout. There is a sandy beach on Lake Michigamme and access to the Peshekee River. The modern sites are arranged in 2 long parallel loops with some tree shade but not a lot of privacy, while the rustic sites have their own loop to the west of those, with similar tree cover."
