"This drive travels a portion of the southern border of Michigan’s upper peninsula. From Manistique to St. Ignace, you will experience 88 miles of various Lake Michigan shoreline and hardwood forest. The drive continues away from the shore for about 27 miles between Gulliver and Naubinway, but finishes up again along the sandy shore all the way from Naubinway to St. Ignace. Many roadside picnic areas and scenic turnouts allow breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and its various shoreline features.
Begin the drive by picking up US 2 East in the quaint fishing town of Manistique. With a population of 4,800, Manistique boasts a real working pier with a fish market, plenty of fishing and recreation boats, docks, and seagulls.
