Silver Lake State Park Professional Review and Guide
"Here are 3,000 acres of sand dunes and forest along a 4-mile stretch of beach on Lake Michigan. A 450-acre off-road vehicle area allows motorized dune climbing, while other areas are reserved for hikers. The nicely shaded campgrounds are set not on Lake Michigan but across the road from the day-use area on the eastern shore of Silver Lake behind the dunes. Get a ticket for the interpretive dune ride and see Little Sable Point light station. Other camp- ground activities include hunting, metal detecting, and participating in the MI State Park Explorer Program. Alcohol is prohibited in the park."
