Leelanau South Ramble Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The rule of thumb is that shoreline riding is flat. Inland, expect to encounter hills. This ramble starts smack in the middle of Leelanau County and heads to its eastern shore. Ergo, this ramble will provide a bit of challenge. The hills come fairly early in the ride and are balanced with downhills, hilltop views of Grand Traverse Bay, a beautiful stretch of flat shoreline, and the village of Suttons Bay, strategically situated to provide the ice-cream cone you'll need to power yourself over the last hill home.
Michiganders often refer to Leelanau County as Michigan's little finger, continuing the metaphor of the mitten shape that is the Lower Peninsula. Glance at your hand. For this ride you'll depart from somewhere around the knuckle and pedal some of the least-traveled roads in this corner of the land of delight. Terrain: Rolling, a few climbs."
