Twin Lakes State Park Professional Review and Guide
"The twin lakes in question are Lake Gerald and Lake Roland, and this campground is situated on the southwest end of the latter. Hikers have a 1.5-mile nature trail on-site that lies in the park land to the west across the highway. On clear days in winter, spring, or late fall when the trees are bare, Lake Superior can be seen from the trail. The warm waters of the lakes make the 500-foot sandy beach very popular with swimmers. Sites aren’t very far apart, but they are shaded a bit by hardwood trees. Several of these sites on the eastern side of the loop are backed right up near the lakeside. Passage between the lakes is possible for paddlers. A 55-mile snowmobile trail runs right past the park parallel to the highway."
