The Platte River runs over 29 miles from Lake Dubonett through Pere Marquette State Forest and empties into Lake Michigan at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake- shore. Healthy wetlands keep its waters clear, and the cooler temperature is ideal for trout. The river is popular with paddlers, and this campground gives access to the river just 3 miles from where it widens into Platte Lake. Hikers also have an interpretive trail on-site. Sites are shaded and arranged in a square loop, with the southwestern corner being closest to the water. This is 11 miles west of Sleeping Bear Dunes.
