Seven Lakes State Park Professional Review and Guide
"Seven Lakes is one of the newer parks in Michigan’s state park system. The park boasts a variety of ecosystems, but for hiking, the forested Green Trail Loop can’t be beat. The trail winds through rolling woodlands between Dickinson, Little Seven, and Big Seven Lakes, passing the shores of the first and offering scenic overlooks of the latter two.
There are six lakes at Seven Lakes State Park. Once upon a time this property was slated for development. Nestled in these wooded hills were seven lakes, but the developers had a dream. Building a dam, they created one large lake. There is still a dam at the north end of Big Seven Lake. In 1969 the state bought the property, and in 1992 the park was opened to the public. All told the property comprises 1,434 acres of rolling hills and forest. The park has a modern campground on Sand Lake, boat launches and fishing piers on Dickinson and Big Seven Lakes, a swimming beach, and miles of trails for hiking and biking."
