Holland State Park Professional Review and Guide
"This Lake Michigan state park is divided into 2 campgrounds. The modern sites at the Beach Campground situated north of the channel between Lake Macatawa and Lake Michigan are closer to the bigger lake’s beach but offer less shade and more of a packed-in, parking lot experience. The Lake Macatawa has more shade trees among its 211 sites (especially in the Pines Loop to the north), and its beach, which is right across Ottawa Beach Road, is actually on the smaller lake. Lake Michigan is a long walk or hike, or a short drive to the other side. Metal detecting is a popular pastime here. Alcohol is prohibited in the park."
