Jones Lake State Forest Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"About 14 miles northeast of Grayling, Jones Lake offers excellent camping close to the Au Sable River. The campground’s 42 sites are organized into six loops.
The campground sits on the southeastern shore of Jones Lake. The lake itself is a fine body of water. A total of 42.5 acres of natural lake empty directly into the East Branch of the Au Sable River. At its deepest, the lake only goes 37 feet, but having been stocked since the middle of the last century, Jones Lake is considered good fishing. Anglers regularly land largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye, in addition to the usual bluegill and sunfish. Gas motors are not permitted on the lake, but electric trolling motors are allowed. Many folks simply cast a line from shore or wade near the perimeter."
