Lake Houghton is big for fishing and boating and shows a lot of residential and cabin development around its shores considering this is a state forest campground. The camp is located on North Bay, which is a semi-sheltered area from the rest of the lake. The sites are mostly shaded, and a few of them will take the bigger rigs. Fishing is for pike, bass, walleye, and panfish. Half of these sites can be reserved. The closest ATV trail is West Higgins, 4 miles north.
