Lake Superior State Forest Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"You may lose your fillings on the drive. Expect a serious washboard of a road coming from Grand Marais, but if your intention is to be away from it all, this will be worth it. Be aware that the nearest gas is back in town, and they can have consistency problems in peak season. Also, sites near the vault toilet have odor issues. But the beach is pristine, stretching miles in either direction, and the sunrises and sunsets are as attractive as the agates you might find on the shore. This park is typically full throughout July and August and takes no reservations. Blind Sucker Flooding is nearby to the south. The North Country National Scenic Trail runs right through the campground. Pine Ridge and Two-Heart ATV trails are 2 and 20 miles away, respectively."
