Set in the woods right along the shore of Lake Superior inside the national park, the camp is situated where the namesake river empties into Lake Superior. The North Country National Scenic Trail passes through here, and a 1.5-mile hike passes shipwreck remains in the lake and connects to the historic Au Sable Light Station. Sites are nicely separated by shade trees and understory for privacy and divided into an upper and lower loop. No reserva- tions are taken, so plan to come early and a day before the weekends in summer.
