The Manistique River passes through the scenic Seney National Wildlife Refuge, and paddlers come for hours or days to enjoy some of its 60-mile journey to Lake Michi- gan. Just south of the refuge are this campground and the similar Merwin Creek Campground, but this is the first takeout for paddlers. The fishing is good for a variety of species: lake trout, lake herring, pike, bass, walleye, perch, muskie, and bluegill. A gravel ramp gets medium-size boats into the water. The campground is on the east side of the river and offers privacy and good shade.
