Big Bear Lake and Big Bear Point State Forest Campgrounds Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"These are 2 nice campgrounds on the north end of a partly developed lake. Big Bear Lake, with 30 sites, has a long sandy swimming beach, while Big Bear Point, with 14 sites, is out on a sandy point just a bit west of the other park. The lake is home to muskie, pike, and panfish. A trailhead for the Big Bear Lake Trail, a 2.2-mile double loop for hikers and mountain bikers, is inside the lake campground. The trail passes marshy areas where you may spot beavers in action. Buttles Road Pathway is also nearby for more mileage for bikers. While this campground is generally recommended for tents and small trailers, there are 11 sites at Big Bear Lake Camp- ground that can take in a 40-foot vehicle. The bulk of the sites have some tree cover and line up parallel to the shore and are just a few steps off the beach."
