Platte Plains Trails Professional Review and Guide
"A 13-mile trail system divided into three shorter loops, 3.6, 4.5 and 6 miles. Dune scenery highlights these relatively easy lakeshore hikes through rolling terrain. The Platte River Campground is a popular stop for summer users of the Sleeping Bear Dunes area, but few venture out on the trails, leaving hikers a bit of solitude and the beauty of the Lake Michigan shoreline.
This trail system also has a remote wilderness campground, with no water, sources of food, or heavy foot–traffic to spoil your adventure. The loops of the trail system allow for plenty of time to explore the varied environments found along these trails. Lakes, streams, and the full range of dry habitats make a visit to the Platte Plains Trail a constantly changing adventure."
