D. H. Day Campground—Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Professional Review and Guide
"The massive 450-foot dunes, the long beaches, and the turquoise water of Lake Michigan have made Sleeping Bear Dunes one of America’s favorite national parks. The campground is nicely shaded, and the sites are private. A trail leads out the north end of the campground to the beach. This is also close to the Dune Climb and Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. Be aware that this fills fast and takes no reservations. Rangers lead evening programs in summer. For reservable sites, see the park’s Platte River Campground. South and North Manitou Islands also offer camping, but it is backcountry style and reachable only by ferry."
