A Superior Ride Copper Harbor and Brockway Mountain Drive

A Superior Ride: Copper Harbor and Brockway Mountain Drive Professional Review and Guide

"One of the most spectacular rides described, this is also one of the most challenging, but you receive a great payoff for the effort. Located in northern Keweenaw Peninsula, M-26 has one scenic view after another of the Lake Superior coastline, varying from white sugary beaches to red rocky outcrops. As if that isn't enough, the second half of the ride encompasses Brockway Mountain Drive, which has been called the best scenic drive in the state and one of the most picturesque drives in the Midwest.

Throughout the ride, birches, pine trees, grasses, and wildflowers line the road. Lake Superior peeks through the trees just before you ride into the town of Copper Harbor. Restaurants and gift shops selling pieces from the area border the road. Things to see: Sweeping Lake Superior vistas, Brockway Mountain Drive, Fort Wilkins Historic Complex and Michigan State Park."

We just got back from Michigan's UP. We biked along Lake Superior following this trail. The trail is along the road and thankfully, there wasn't much traffic. The views of Lake Superior were awesome. We tired out on the first half of the trail and double backed along the same stretch. Leaving the area, we drove the second half of the trail along Brockway Mountain Drive. There were many hills, some very steep. The view from the top was great.
