White Deer Lake Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Decorating the broad swath of forest is a mosaic of sparkling lakes, clear-running streams, and rock outcrops. A few miles of trails penetrate the remote interior of this 16,000-acre wilderness.
Begin your hike by walking east from the trailhead on the White Deer Lake Trail, immediately crossing a sturdy bridge over the Peshekee River. The trail follows the old road, now overgrown in spots, which went to the McCormick family lodge at White Deer Lake.
Once past the Peshekee the trail turns north, running through a scrubby stretch, and then threads its way between a cliffy headland and the marshy waters of Baraga Creek."
